Attention:  All Past and Present Medicine Hat Pickleball Members:

 

Re:  Returning to organized MHPC play during the period of time when there are Alberta Health restrictions in place, due to the Covid-19 pandemic

 

We are thrilled to announce that the Medicine Hat Pickleball Club (MHPC) will be commencing with organized club play as per the June 12, 2020 Phase 2 Re-Launch Protocols, as of Monday, June 22nd. 

 

The MHPC in cooperation with the City of Medicine Hat have been working together to enable organized club play to begin.  Many new protocols are now in place, to ensure that our club, our members and our community remains safe.

 

To be eligible to play or participate, in any MHPC activity, you will have to join the MHPC for the 2020/21 Season.  The membership fee for the season is $80 and will NOT be refundable should conditions surrounding COVID-19 change.   To join, please go to the MHPC website:  (https://mhsspc.wixsite.com/medhatpickleball) and click on the “Join Club/Renew Membership” link.  Upon completion of your membership you will receive an email.  We ask that you forward that email to BOTH of the board members listed below.  This will enable us to quickly and efficiently add your name to the SignUp Genius invite list, which will be required for ALL club play.

Attached to this letter is a list of MHPC Protocols that have been put in place for the continued safety of our members.  We ask that you review these guidelines and acknowledge that by renewing your membership you agree to cooperate and abide by the said protocols so that we can put the COVID-19 virus permanently behind us all.   We thank you, in advance for your help and support and look forward to commencing pickleball play in a safe and friendly environment.

Medicine Hat Pickleball Club Protocols for 2020/21 Season

As of June 19, 2020

 

  •  You must be a MHPC member, in good standing, to participate in all club play and activities.

  • Members will be asked to sign a MHPC waiver that pertains specifically to Coronavirus/COVID-19.

  • No “DROP IN” play will be allowed for the 2020/21 season.

  • SignUp Genius will be used for all club play and programming and you MUST be registered to play.

  • Daily SignUp Genius invites will have participants acknowledging that they are “Fit to Play” and exhibiting NO signs of the Covid-19.

  • Six (6) of the eight (8) courts will be used for play until further notice.

  • Until further notice, each scheduled session will consist of a maximum of Twenty eight (28) participants.  This will be made up of Twenty four (24) players, Two (2) subs and Two (2) Court Monitors/Host.

  • Two (2) volunteer Court Monitors/Hosts will be required for all scheduled sessions to ensure club protocols and procedures are followed.  This is a NON playing volunteer role.

  • Initially games will play using time vs. games to 11 points.

  • Hand sanitizer and disinfecting bleach solutions will be used for balls. 

  • Members will be asked to adhere to Social distancing (2 meter) guidelines while at the courts at all times.

  • Players will be asked to limit HAND contact with balls and to use their foot or paddle to return balls to server.

  • The MID COURT (East) GATE will be the only entrance/exit used for all organized play.  The north and south gates will have a NO ACCESS sign on them during club play.

  • Pickleball bags and personal belongings should be hung OUTSIDE the FENCE to the NORTH & SOUTH of the MID COURT (East) ENTRANCE, adhering to SAFE DISTANCING standards.

  • All players/participants will be asked to use hand sanitizer before and after any contact with nets and to avoid paddle touching and contact with fellow players. 

  • Players are encouraged to bring along their own lawn chair and to practice social distancing guidelines while at the courts at all times.

 

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the above MHPC Protocols, we would ask you to contact a member of your Board of Directors.   We thank you in advance for your understanding regarding the above guidelines and the reasons for them.  These guidelines are in place but NOT limited to what the MHPC is committed to doing in our best efforts to keep our club, our members and our community safe.  Let’s all work together to put the Covid-19 virus behind us all.
